Pakistani forces opened fire with small arms on posts along the Line of Control, and Indian troops responded in a proportional manner, the Indian Army said..
"On the night of 1-2 May 2025, posts of the Pakistani army carried out an unprovoked attack with small arms along the Line of Control opposite the areas of Kupwara, Baramulla, Poonch, Nowshera, and Akhnoor in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir," the Indian military stated, according to the ANI news agency.
"The Indian Army responded in a calibrated and proportionate manner," they added.
New Delhi has been recording gunfire from Pakistani forces along the Line of Control every day for a week following the 22 April terrorist attack in Pahalgam.
