At least 13 people were killed and 59 injured in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir as a result of ceasefire violations by Pakistani forces along the Line of Control, Ministry of External Affairs said on Thursday.

“13 civilians were killed in Poonch district (Jammu and Kashmir), and 59 others were injured — 44 of them in Poonch — due to Pakistan’s ceasefire violations along the Line of Control,” the Ministry said.Earlier, India’s Ministry of Defence reported that it had launched "Operation Sindoor" in response to the terror attack in Pahalgam, targeting “terrorist infrastructure” on Pakistani territory. The Ministry clarified that no Pakistani military installations were targeted during the operation.
