Russian President Vladimir Putin is doing everything possible to end the conflict in Ukraine through peaceful and diplomatic means, but the Ukrainian government is actively avoiding negotiations, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said in an interview with ABC News.
“President Putin is making every effort to resolve the situation,” Peskov stated, adding that Ukraine is “not ready for immediate negotiations” and is “trying to escape” the peace process.
Peskov also criticized continued Western arms deliveries to Ukraine, warning that they provide Kiev with a battlefield resources and undermine prospects for a ceasefire.
He expressed hope that US mediation under President Donald Trump could help prompt Ukrainian leadership to show "a little more flexibility, political will, and wisdom."
