India has granted special permission for a convoy of over 160 Afghan trucks carrying dried fruits and medicinal plants to cross its border via the Wagah checkpoint, transiting through Pakistan, reported the news portal Khaama Press.
Currently, the border between Pakistan and India remains closed.
India’s Ministry of External Affairs S. Jaishankar issued a special permit to 162 Afghan cargo trucks to enter India through the Wagah border crossing. This permission applies exclusively to Afghan heavy goods vehicles and does not extend to Pakistani trucks.
The Wagah checkpoint has been closed since 22 April amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan.
