Russia Maintains Contact With Iran and Israel, Urges Restraint
MOSCOW (Sputnik) - Russia stays in contact with both Iran and Israel against the background of the recent escalation of the conflict, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said on Monday.
"What is happening is very worrying. The Russian Foreign Ministry is not just closely following what is happening, but is in contact with the parties. We have publicly called on everyone to exercise restraint. We have certainly condemned Israel's unprovoked use of force in violation of the norms and principles of the UN Charter," Ryabkov told reporters.
Russia holds talks on the issue with the representatives of the United States, Ryabkov said.
"The topic of Iran comes up in our contacts with US representatives. We have conveyed the relevant impulses to the US side. In recent days, this has taken place on specialized international multilateral platforms," the diplomat said.
