The agreement was signed by Russian Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov and Myanmar Minister of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations Kang Zo."The new agreement creates a legal framework for expanding investment cooperation between the two countries, including guarantees for investment protection, providing non-discriminatory regime for investors, and modern mechanisms for resolving investment disputes, including by submitting them to international arbitration," the ministry said in the statement.The simplification of investment procedures will foster accelerating the implementation of mutually beneficial investment projects, including in the Dawei Special Economic Zone."This agreement opens up new prospects for Russian businesses in Myanmar. We especially note the willingness of the Myanmar side to involve Russian companies in the development of shelf oil and gas fields. Russian technologies and expertise can play a key role in the development of Myanmar's energy sector," Reshetnikov was quoted as saying in the ministry's statement.In addition to energy, the agreement will create favorable conditions for cooperation in promising such areas as transport infrastructure, metallurgy, agriculture and telecommunications, the ministry added.

ST. PETERSBURG (Sputnik) - Russia and Myanmar have signed an agreement on the promotion and reciprocal protection of investments at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), the Russian Ministry of Economic Development said on Friday.
The agreement was signed by Russian Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov and Myanmar Minister of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations Kang Zo.
