Russia views India’s plans for the BRICS presidency as promising, ensuring continuity within the group, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said while addressing the BRICS 2025 Summit in Rio, Brazil.
"Starting January 1, 2026, India will assume the BRICS presidency. During our meeting with our Indian colleague, we discussed the plans currently being developed in New Delhi. We find them to be very promising and ensuring continuity in the work carried out last year, this year, and with a focus on the upcoming year," noted Lavrov.
The BRICS summit, hosted by Brazil, brought together leaders from Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, as well as new members Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, the UAE, and Indonesia. (ANI)
