India sees mutual benefit in a potential Free Trade Area (FTA) agreement with the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), the negotiations for which are currently underway, said Ramkumar Tangaraj, the head of the economic and trade department of the Indian Embassy in Russia, in an interview with Sputnik.
On Monday, Russia's trade representative in India, Andrey Sobolev, told Sputnik that negotiations between India and the EAEU on the FTA agreement are in an active phase, and Russia hopes for a quick signing of the deal.
"We (India and the EAEU) understand one thing: the free trade agreement is mutually complementary, and it is very important for both sides because this region has great potential that needs to be utilized and supported. One such tool is the free trade agreement," said Tangaraj to the agency at the "Innoprom" exhibition.
According to the head of the economic and trade department of the embassy, both sides are negotiating, addressing numerous issues, and agreeing on procedures. However, the exact timing of the agreement's signing remains unknown, as this is a complex decision involving multiple states, and the process takes time.
The International Industrial Exhibition "Innoprom" is being held in Ekaterinburg from Monday to Thursday.
