MOSCOW, July 15 (Sputnik) - New statements by US President Donald Trump are very serious, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Tuesday.
"The statements by the US President are very serious, something in them is addressed personally to the [Russian] President [Vladimir] Putin. We certainly need time to analyze what was said in Washington," Peskov told reporters.
Further, he stated that the decisions made in Washington and NATO are perceived by Kiev not as a signal for peace, but as a signal to continue the war, Kremlin.
"For now, one thing can be said unequivocally: it seems that such a decision, which is being made in Washington, and in NATO countries, and directly in Brussels, is perceived by the Ukrainian side not as a signal for peace, but as a signal to continue the war," Peskov told journalists.
commenting on the situation around Ukraine, Peskov said that the Europe would rather see an escalation of military actions than a transition to a peaceful regime.

"Washington wants to see this dialogue [between Russia and Ukraine], and Europe allegedly wants to see it too. Although, judging by the statements, Europe wants to see an escalation of military action rather than a transition to a peaceful regime, but Kiev is silent," Peskov stressed.

On Monday, US President Donald Trump announced that the United States will impose 100% secondary tariffs on Russia if no resolution is reached in the Ukraine conflict within the next 50 days.
"We are very, very unhappy with [Russia], and we are going to be doing very severe tariffs if we do not have a deal in 50 days. Tariffs at about 100%. You would call them secondary tariffs," Trump said during his meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte in the Oval Office.
Russia has repeatedly stressed that the long-range weapons supplied by the West are being used by Ukrainian forces to target civilians on Russian territory and disrupt peace efforts.
Allowing Ukraine to use these weapons would fundamentally change the nature of the conflict, as Russian President Putin has previously stated. "We will make the necessary decisions based on the threats we face," he said. "The key question is whether to consider NATO countries as directly involved in the military conflict," the president added.
