India Must Continuously Strengthen Its Defense Capabilities: Defence Minister
India has never been a country eager for war, but in the contemporary geopolitical landscape, it must consistently enhance its defense capabilities, stated Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh at the "Ran-Samvad 2025" conference.
While India has never initiated aggression against any country, the current geopolitical reality demands that it be prepared to respond strongly if challenged, Singh emphasised. He highlighted that maintaining a robust defense posture is paramount to India's national security.
"They will be a combined play of technology, intelligence, economy and diplomacy. In the times ahead, the nation that masters the triangle of technology, strategy and adaptability will emerge as the true global power. To put it simply, this is the moment to learn from history and write a new one," he said.
Singh also noted that in the 21st century, simply having large numbers of soldiers or a significant arsenal of weapons is no longer enough. The nature of warfare has dramatically evolved due to advancements in cyber warfare, artificial intelligence, drones, and satellite intelligence.
"Modern battles are no longer confined to land, sea, and air. They now extend into outer space and cyberspace. Satellite systems, anti-satellite weapons, and space command centers are the new instruments of power. Therefore, what we require today is not just defensive preparedness, but also a proactive strategy," Singh said.
The "Ran-Samvad 2025" event, organized by the Indian Ministry of Defense, is a two-day dialogue held at the Military College of Madhya Pradesh, attended by military personnel from all three branches of India's armed forces.
This is the first initiative of its kind, where each thematic session will be conducted by serving officers, who will share their personal experiences and insights on contemporary battlefields.
