US Cannot Strong-Arm China and India Into Rejecting Russian Oil: Russian FM
The United States has come to the realization that using tariffs as a tool to negotiate with China and India is not effective, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said.
"China and India are ancient civilizations, and talking to them like this — either you stop doing what I don't like, or I'll impose tariffs on you — won't work. And the contacts that continue between Beijing and Washington, between New Delhi and Washington, show that the American side also understands this." Lavrov said.
He pointed out that, aside from the economic hardships these tariffs impose—disrupting trade, forcing countries to seek alternative markets, and raising energy costs—there is also a moral-political opposition to this approach.
