India's Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, met Brazilian Defence Minister José Múcio Monteiro and Chief Advisor to the President of Brazil, Celso Amorim, to explore opportunities in defence industry collaboration and capability-building initiatives to support long-term interoperability and shared security objectives, the Indian Navy said in a statement on Thursday.
"The discussions provided a comprehensive review of the expanding India-Brazil defence engagements, with focus on augmenting strategic cooperation, strengthening joint operational frameworks, enhancing training avenues, maritime security mechanisms and deepening coordination in maritime domain awareness," the statement added.
The development comes amid Admiral Tripathi's four-day visit to the Latin American country, which began on December 9.
Earlier, the Indian Navy, Brazilian Navy and India's state-run shipbuilding behemoth
