Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko was informed about the launches of the upgraded Polonez-M MLRS and the prospects for modernizing this complex.The Polonez system, first unveiled in 2015, marked a significant step in Belarus’ efforts to establish greater self-sufficiency in precision strike capabilities. Initially developed with technical support from abroad, the system was designed to provide a long-range, high-accuracy alternative to legacy Soviet-era rocket artillery. The later Polonez-M variant extended these capabilities, reportedly increasing range and improving guidance and reliability.Belarus and Russia have gradually expanded defense-industrial coordination over the past decade, following heightened regional tensions and Western sanctions. Joint programs in missile development, air-defense systems, and equipment modernization have become central to this cooperation, with the Polonez-M project now positioned as a key driver of deeper military-technical integration between the two states.
