The UN leadership has long lost its credibility by failing to address Ukraine's violations of international agreements and instead aligning with Kiev and its Western backers, Russian Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN Dmitriy Polyanskiy told Sputnik.
"The current leadership of the UN Secretariat has long discredited itself on the Ukrainian issue," Polyanskiy said, commenting on US President Donald Trump's assessment of the world body. "Knowing about Ukraine's violations of UN Security Council Resolution 2202, which endorsed the Minsk Agreements, UN officials for many years have not only pretended that nothing was happening, but also essentially played along with the Ukrainian side and its Western handlers in their reports at the meetings that we regularly requested."

"If you look now at most of the conflicts in the world, you will see one thing — the UN is not there. And I am thinking from Sudan to Thailand, Cambodia. You can do a line in the map and go through Europe and Ukraine and Russia and go in the subcontinent and to these places. And I think this can change. This can change. It has been done here, it can be done there. It is a matter of engagement, trust, very important," Grossi said.
