External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar has expressed India's concern over the US military strikes and the subsequent kidnapping of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.The foreign minister referred to the press release put out by the Ministry of External Affairs on 4 January, which also noted that New Delhi was "closely monitoring the evolving situation"."We call upon all concerned to address issues peacefully through dialogue, ensuring peace and stability of the region," the MEA release said.Meanwhile, India's main opposition Congress Party on Tuesday also put out its own statement on the events in Venezuela, expressing "grave concern" at the US unilateral actions" in violation of international law and the United Nations (UN) Charter.On Monday, two days after around 200 US special forces members flew in and abducted Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, from Miraflores in Caracas, Vice-President Delcy Rodrigues was sworn-in as the interim President by the Venezuelan Parliament. While US President Donald Trump said on Saturday that the US would "run" Venezuela, Rodrigues claimed on Tuesday that "no foreign agent" was governing Venezuela.Maduro and his wife are facing trial at a district court in New York on drug trafficking and "narco-terrorism" charges, US Attorney-General Pam Bondi said.Around 23 Venezuelan troops and 32 Cuban security personnel assigned for duties in Caracas were killed in the US raid, according to figures reported by respective governments on Tuesday.

India Concerned by Developments in Venezuela: Jaishankar
In India, the US military strikes and the seizing of Nicolas Maduro has evoked "concern" from the government. On the other hand, the main opposition Congress Party and the Left parties have been overly critical of American "unilateral" actions.
External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar has expressed India's concern over the US military strikes and the subsequent kidnapping of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.
"We are concerned about the developments, but we would really urge all the parties involved to now sit down and sort of come to a position which is in the interest of the well-being and safety of the people of Venezuela because at the end of the day that is our concern that we would want Venezuela as a country with whom over many, many years we have had very good relations," Jaishankar said in response to a question from an Indian community member at an interaction in Luxembourg on Tuesday evening.
We would like the people to come out well from whatever is the direction of events, stated Jaishankar.

Meanwhile, India's main opposition Congress Party on Tuesday also put out its own statement on the events in Venezuela, expressing "grave concern" at the US unilateral actions" in violation of international law and the United Nations (UN) Charter.
"Respect for national sovereignty and peaceful coexistence have formed the bedrock of the post World War-II rules-based world order. Any kinetic action that circumscribes these
without the express sanction of the United Nations risks the resurgence of primordial rules of statecraft and undermines global stability," the opposition said. Congress also called for the will of the Venezuelan people to be respected and its natural resources be used for "betterment" of the Venezuelan people.
