The Indian Navy is bolstering its anti-submarine warfare capabilities with the induction of the state-of-the-art Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Crafts (ASW-SWCs).
In a major boost to the Indian Navy's Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) capabilities, the country's blue water force is set to commission the third Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft (ASW-SWC) at the Eastern Naval Command in Chennai on February 27.

The vessel, named Anjadip, is part of the ASW-SWC project under which eight such Shallow Water Craft will be built for the Indian Navy by the state-run Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE).
"Anjadip is a state-of-the-art vessel specifically designed to address the challenges of the littoral combat environment—the coastal and shallow waters vital for the nation's security," the Ministry of Defence (MoD) said in a statement.
Engineered to perform like a "Dolphin Hunter", the warship is expected to detect, track and neutralise enemy submarines in coastal zones.
"The ship is packed with an indigenous, cutting-edge Anti-Submarine Warfare weapons and sensor package, including the Hull Mounted Sonar Abhay, and armed with Lightweight Torpedoes and ASW Rockets," the statement added.
The vessel is 77 meters long and is equipped with a high-speed Water-Jet Propulsion system, allowing it to reach a top speed of 25 knots to conduct lightning-fast operations and provide rapid responses during emergencies.

The commissioning ceremony of the ship will be presided over by the Indian Navy Chief, Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi.
