Thursday's elections in Nepal come in the aftermath of last year's Gen-Z movement that overthrew the then-KP Sharma Oli-led government last year.
Balancing geopolitics and geoeconomics will be a priority for Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RSP) if it forms the government under the leadership of rapper-turned-politician Balen Shah, party spokesperson Manish Jha told Sputnik in an exclusive interview ahead of the voting on 5 March.

"The biggest challenge of the current political practice in our region is to balance geopolitics and geoeconomics," Jha said.

We are focused on that. We have a very balanced approach to our ties with neighbouring countries and we are working on that, he added.

"We are more focused on balanced geopolitics and geoeconomics. So, there won’t be going to any side, getting inclined to any country. So, balanced geopolitics and geoeconomics will be our priority," the party spokesperson stated.

Shah, who has emerged as the face of Gen-Z uprising, has challenged four-time former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli from his stronghold of Jhapa in eastern Nepal.
Many voters in the Jhapa constituency told Sputnik India that they would vote for Shah, but it is difficult to write off Oli’s prospects.
Jha recalled his conversation with Balen Shah on why he wanted to contest the election only from Oli’s stronghold.

"He told me, Manish, if you want a change, you should know how to challenge. Without a challenge, change doesn't happen."

Jha, who himself is contesting the election from Janakpur, a Nepali Congress stronghold, said that the RSP seeks to dislodge entrenched political parties in the country.
Jha rejected Oli’s charge accusing Balen Shah of being funded or supported by external forces.

"That’s a political statement… We have waited for this generation for 35 years to deliver on their promises. And they have failed. That’s why he have taken things in our own hand," the RSP Spokesperson said.

While accusing Oli of suppress the voices of Gen-Z and political opponents, Jha assured that RSP won’t practise the politics of vendetta if it comes to power.

"We won’t put Oli in jail," Jha said.

The RSP Spokesperson expressed hope that his party would win the election with a comfortable majority in the 275-member House of Representatives. He refused to say whether RSP would seek to enter into an alliance with other parties if it fell short of a majority.
