Russia remains ready to provide mediation services to resolve the conflict between Afghanistan and Pakistan, but no such requests have been received from either side, Zamir Kabulov, Russian special presidential envoy on Afghanistan and advisor to the foreign minister, told Sputnik.
"Russia is ready to provide mediation services if requested by the conflicting parties. So far, no such request has been received," Kabulov said.
On February 26, Afghanistan launched a military operation against Pakistani bases located along the Durand Line, the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan not recognized by Kabul, in response to bombings. Pakistan announced the launch of Operation Ghazab lil Haq in response to what it called "unprovoked shelling" by Afghanistan in several border sectors.
