Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf will lead the Iranian delegation, while the US side will be represented by US Vice President JD Vance, special presidential envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. The first round of talks is said to start on Saturday, building on Iran's 10-point proposal, which envisages Iranian control over the Strait of Hormuz, the withdrawal of US troops from the Middle East, and halt of all military operations. One of the stumble points of the talks is Lebanon, which has come under the Israeli strikes. At the same time Pakistan has stepped up security measures in its capital ahead of the talks and declared public holidays on Thursday and Friday. The talks are believed to take place in a hotel in the administrative district, which has already been cordoned off.
