18:35 15.05.2026 (Updated: 18:48 15.05.2026) Trade turnover between Russia and Afghanistan may increase in the near future, as both sides are working to establish a joint economic commission to strengthen bilateral cooperation, Afghan Minister of Industry and Trade Nuriddin Azizi said on Friday.
The minister emphasized that intensive consultations are underway, aimed at creating a structured platform for long-term economic collaboration.
Earlier, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk announced that

"I hope that the level of trade between the countries in the near future will be significantly higher than it is right now," Azizi told reporters on the sidelines of the 'Russia-Islamic World: KazanForum'. He stressed that trade cooperation holds a "special place" in Afghanistan-Russia relations.
According to Azizi, both Moscow and Kabul have already proposed concrete initiatives to accelerate the launch and functioning of the joint commission on economic cooperation.
