US Vice President JD Vance said on Thursday that the 60-day time frame for US-Iran negotiations aimed at striking a final deal starts today.

"I would say the 60-day period officially started today ... So, yes, the deal started yesterday, we're going to start the 60-day clock today," Vance told a briefing.

US Vice President JD Vance said that he intends to lead the negotiating team during the 60-day period of talks with Iran.

"I'm certainly planning to lead the US negotiating team," Vance said during a press briefing when asked how much he would be involved in the process after the memorandum of understanding was signed.

On Sunday, Iran and the United States confirmed that work on a memorandum of understanding had been completed. Overnight into June 18, Iran and the US remotely signed the document that provides for an end to the military conflict that began on February 28.
The memorandum will give the two countries 60 days to negotiate a final deal on the Iranian nuclear issue and US sanctions. Additionally, it sets a timeline for the United States to lift its naval blockade, and for Iran to restore shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.
