The topic of Ukraine was present on the agenda of the meeting of Russian President Vladimir Putin and Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko at Valdai, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Monday.
On Friday, Putin and Lukashenko discussed the Union State's agenda, trade and economic cooperation, and regional security issues at a meeting in Valdai.
"The topic of Ukraine was on the agenda of informal communication that took place on Friday and Saturday in Valdai," Peskov told reporters.
Lukashenko did not transmit to Putin any message from Vladimir Zelensky, the spokesman added.
"It was an informal conversation, it was at the president's residence on Valdai. Therefore, as you have noticed, there was no coverage of this meeting, but the agenda is quite clear. These are primarily bilateral relations, trade and economic cooperation," Peskov said.
The leaders discussed security issues, the escalation of tensions on the part of European states, as well as attempts to provoke Belarus, the spokesman added.
"That is why on the second day, as Putin said yesterday, the Russian Prime Minister [Mikhail Mishustin] joined the presidents. And the conversation was very substantive, because, of course, there are a lot of joint projects on the agenda of the Union State, they require specifics," Peskov said.
Peskov also recalled Putin's recent statement that Kiev would have to pay for its incursion into the Kursk Region.
"I would like to draw your attention to the fact that, when naming certain directions where a security buffer zone is being created following the incursion of Kiev regime bandit formations into the Kursk Region, Putin said that the Kiev regime will have to pay for this incursion. Pay with the very territory that will end up in the buffer zone," Peskov said.
Putin said on Sunday that Ukraine would pay for its crimes on Kursk soil by losing the territories needed to create a security zone.
