India Doubles Russian Gold Purchases

India significantly increased its imports of precious metals from Russia in April, with gold purchases nearly doubling compared to the same period last year, according to Sputnik estimates based on official Indian trade statistics.
India imported $5.6 million worth of Russian gold in April, up from $3.1 million in April of the previous year.
The increase marks a year-on-year rise of nearly 81%, highlighting stronger trade flows in the precious metals sector.
Silver imports from Russia also recorded substantial growth during the month.
Indian companies purchased approximately $411,000 worth of Russian silver, nearly three times the value imported during the corresponding period a year earlier.
