Russia Remains Top Oil Supplier to India and China in May: Reports
Russia retained its position as the largest crude oil supplier to both India and China in May 2026, according to the latest report from the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries.
The report, citing Kpler data, highlights
Russia's continued dominance in supplying crude to Asia's two largest importers.
According to OPEC, Russia exported 2.1 million barrels per day (bpd) of crude oil to India in May, up from 1.7 million bpd in April.
The United Arab Emirates ranked as India's second-largest supplier, delivering 611,000 bpd, while Saudi Arabia was third with 350,000 bpd.
India's total crude oil imports also increased during the month, averaging 5.09 million bpd, compared with 4.92 million bpd in April.
Russia also remained China's largest crude oil supplier in May despite an overall decline in Chinese oil imports.
China's total crude imports fell from 9.32 million bpd in April to 7.72 million bpd in May. Russia accounted for 25% of China's total oil imports, followed by Saudi Arabia with 17% and Brazil with 16%.
The latest figures underscore Russia's continued role as a key energy supplier to both India and China despite shifting global energy markets.
