India has successfully test-fired the Agni-4 medium-range ballistic missile (MRBM) from the Integrated Test Range, the Ministry of Defence announced on Thursday.

The launch, conducted on 6 August under the aegis of the Strategic Forces Command, successfully validated all operational and technical parameters of the missile system, according to the ministry.

"India successfully test-fired the Medium Range Ballistic Missile (MRBM) Agni-4 from the Integrated Test Range, Chandipur, Odisha on August 06, 2026," the ministry wrote on X.

The Agni-4 is a two-stage, solid-fuel ballistic missile with a strike range of up to 4,000 kilometres. It forms part of India's strategic deterrence capability and is capable of carrying conventional, thermobaric, and strategic nuclear payloads.

The Defence Ministry said the successful trial reaffirmed the operational readiness, reliability, and performance of the Agni-4 missile system.
