According to Veson Nautical, 167 such ships were built last year, the highest in over a decade, with another 164 planned for this year.Russian Far East Development Minister Alexei Chekunkov said in June that cargo traffic on the Northern Sea Route grew 13% to 14.5 million tonnes in the first five months of this year. In 2025, 37 million tonnes were transported via the route, with a record 3.2 million tonnes in transit, he added.
