Syrian Air has operated its first flight from Damascus to Moscow in over a year and a half, making Syria the 37th country accessible through direct flights from Russia, the Russian Transport Ministry said on Sunday.
"Syrian Air has operated its first flight from Damascus to Moscow. The first Syrian aircraft in over a year and a half arrived at Sheremetyevo [airport]," the ministry said, adding that "Syria has become the 37th country with direct air link to Russia."
Russia's Federal Air Transport Agency has issued a permit to Syrian Air for regular flights between Damascus and Moscow, the ministry added. Flights will be operated on Airbus A320 planes every Sunday, arriving at Sheremetyevo from Damascus at 7:00 a.m. [04:00 GMT], with a return departure to Damascus at 8:10 a.m.
