India Sends Medical Supplies to Afghanistan as Humanitarian Assistance
India has delivered medicines and medical supplies to a government hospital in Kabul as part of its continuing humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan.
Indian Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal announced the delivery on Thursday, saying the initiative reflected New Delhi’s long-standing healthcare partnership with the Afghan people.
“Strengthening healthcare in Afghanistan! Reaffirming its enduring health partnership with the friendly people of Afghanistan, India has supplied medicines and medical materials to a government hospital in Kabul,” Jaiswal wrote in a post on X.
The latest shipment comes as India continues to expand its engagement with Afghanistan, with a focus on diplomatic exchanges, humanitarian support and development initiatives.
Earlier this week, Jaiswal said during a biweekly media briefing in New Delhi that India’s engagement with Afghanistan had grown over the past year, particularly in areas related to humanitarian assistance and development cooperation.
India has also provided emergency relief to communities affected by natural disasters in Afghanistan. Last month, New Delhi sent food supplies, tents and other relief materials to Afghanistan’s National Disaster Management Authority following devastating floods in Nuristan province.
In June, India delivered an additional five tonnes of essential medicines to Kabul, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs.
India has maintained that its assistance is aimed at improving the welfare and well-being of the Afghan people while sustaining long-term ties with the country.
