Attempts to destabilise the situation ahead of the Russian elections indicate Ukraine's panic and fear of imminent defeat, Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) Director Sergei Naryshkin said on Friday.

"I qualify these actions [attempts to destabilize the situation within Russia ahead of the State Duma elections] as hostile and as activity supported by Western sponsors, or, better said, the Western masters of the corrupt Kiev regime, who speak of the Kiev regime's fear of a very imminent defeat," Naryshkin said after the Conference of Heads of Security Agencies and Intelligence Services of the CIS Member States.

EU countries are almost fully involved in fighting on Ukraine's side, Naryshkin said, adding that the bloc is turning into a Russophobic group.

The EU is rapidly moving away from its original purpose of integrating countries, promoting economic prosperity, Naryshkin added.
