Russia Opens Terrorist Attack Case Into Ukraine's Strike on Krasnodar Territory: Investigators
A criminal case on a terrorist attack has been opened following a Ukrainian attack on civilian targets in Russia's Krasnodar Territory, Russian Investigative Committee spokeswoman Svetlana Petrenko told Sputnik on Wednesday.
Earlier in the day, Krasnodar Territory Governor Veniamin Kondratyev said that four people, including one child, were killed and 29 others were injured as a result of a nighttime drone attack on the city of Novorossiysk.
"The Main Investigative Directorate of the Russian Investigative Committee has initiated a criminal case on a terrorist attack by the armed forces of Ukraine on the Krasnodar Territory (Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation)," Petrenko said.
Overnight into Wednesday, Ukrainian armed forces launched drone strikes on civilian targets and residential buildings in the region resulting in casualties, including fatalities, among the civilian population in Novorossiysk, the committee said. The exact number of those suffered in the attack is still being determined, the committee added. Private homes, apartment buildings, an Orthodox church and a kindergarten sustained damage, the committee said.
The investigators have organized a set of measures to collect evidence, Petrenko added. Efforts are underway to identify the specific Ukrainian militants involved in the crime, she said.
