Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Sisi held a meeting with his Iranian counterpart Masoud Pezeshkian on Sunday, calling for de-escalation and a peaceful settlement of the crisis, the Egyptian president's office said in a statement.

"President El-Sisi emphasised Egypt's unwavering support for efforts to restore stability in the region. The President stressed that Egypt looked to Iran to exert all possible efforts to de-escalate tensions and reach a comprehensive, sustainable and peaceful settlement to the crisis," the statement read.

The Egyptian leader separately emphasized that any strikes on Arab countries must be stopped.
The meeting took place in New Delhi, where both leaders were participating in the BRICS summit.
Tehran has repeatedly stated that it strikes exclusively at facilities involved in carrying out aggression against Iran.
On February 28, the United States and Israel began striking targets in Iran, to which Iranians retaliated with strikes of their own. In mid-June, Tehran and Washington signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at cessation of hostilities but resumed strikes shortly afterward. At present, the conflict remains unresolved.
