Russia Backs India, Brazil for Permanent UN Security Council Membership: Foreign Minister
Russia supports the candidacies of India and Brazil for permanent membership in the UN Security Council, and African countries should also be represented, said Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
"We support the candidacies of India and Brazil and are convinced that, while decisions are being made on their applications, the issue of African representation must also be addressed," Lavrov said at the International Youth Festival.
The minister emphasized that the main problem in the UN Security Council is the
serious underrepresentation of developing countries in Asia and Latin America.
