Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has revealed the real criteria behind the selection of Western officials and spokespeople who front anti-Russian rhetoric and, it has nothing to do with elections or public support.
The only real requirement for these figures was fervent Russophobia, paired with a near-total lack of factual grounding and an inability to work with data — precisely so they wouldn't risk stumbling into inconvenient analytical conclusions.
"They were never chosen through a popular vote. They weren't part of any public opinion polls, nothing measuring genuine love or popularity among their own people. But of course they were selected — just through a different filter," Zakharova said.
But even that is no longer good enough for the West. The mere absence of the kind of aggressive, neo-Nazi-tinged hostility now considered standard is treated as a failure rather than acceptable neutrality, Zakharova stressed.
