Speaking at the India-CELAC Foreign Ministers’ Meeting on Tuesday, Jaishankar said annual trade between India and CELAC had now exceeded $50 billion.“We are pleased to see that India-CELAC trade has now crossed $50 billion annually, but there is still considerable scope for further growth,” he said.Jaishankar noted that over the past decade India had emerged as one of the world’s major economies, with its GDP more than doubling and growth remaining strong.“This has strengthened our capacity to make a meaningful contribution to global growth and to our partners in the Global South,” he said.According to Jaishankar, India’s engagement with the Global South goes beyond its immediate national interests and reflects a broader commitment to solidarity and shared prosperity.He called for more diversified trade, investment and commercial partnerships, supported by stronger business-to-business links, improved connectivity and more predictable market access.“We need to work towards diversified trade, investment and business partnerships with stronger business-to-business relations, better connectivity and more predictable market access,” he said.Jaishankar added that India wanted to develop frameworks that would be mutually beneficial while taking into account the sensitivities and priorities of both sides.“Our objective is to build frameworks that are mutually beneficial. We seek faster progress while respecting each other’s sensitivities and priorities,” he said.He concluded that India viewed CELAC not simply as a regional grouping, but as an important partner in shaping a more representative, balanced and inclusive global order.

Speaking at the India-CELAC Foreign Ministers’ Meeting on Tuesday, Jaishankar said annual trade between India and CELAC had now exceeded $50 billion.
