India-Russia Scientific and Educational Ties Gains Momentum After "Scientists of the Future" Project
Indian universities have expressed interest in expanding cooperation with Russian scientists and educational institutions following the "Scientists of the Future" project, which brought together more than 2,300 schoolchildren, university students, young researchers and teachers in Delhi and Jaipur.
"We are sincerely delighted that the scientific and educational events of the "Scientists of the Future" project were held in India for the first time and with such great success. We see genuine interest in the project, including among the younger generation. "
"It is important that many universities have expressed a desire to continue cooperation with Russian experts. Thanks to the project, scientific and educational ties between Russia and India are being strengthened, and new horizons are opening up for young people, our scientists of the future", said Nikita Gusev, Chancellor of the Pushkin Institute.
"We are pleased to welcome participants in the "Scientists of the Future" project to our university, where we pursue forward-looking initiatives. "It was especially interesting to visit the Faculty of Ayurveda, one of the areas of medical science in India that integrates well into biomedical practice. Modern science can only thrive through collaboration across countries and disciplines.
I see a great interest in Russia among Indian students. They want to study there and participate in joint research. This speaks to the fact that our cooperation has a great future", said project expert Yury Zhernov, Doctor of Medical Sciences and Director of Sysin Research Institute of Human Ecology and Environmental Hygiene.

"For the project I prepared a topic on Russia and India ties in the 19thand early 20th centuries. In particular, I discussed travellers who brought back artefacts from India that today form museum collections, as well as Vasily Vereshchagin’s series of paintings of India.
One of his best-known works ‘The Taj Mahal Mausoleum in Agra’, still attracts visitors’ attention and generated a great response from Indian students and professors. The project gives us an opportunity to visit various universities, and everywhere we are received very warmly", said Marina Zagora, Candidate of Historical Sciences and Researcher at the Laboratory of Diaspora and Migration History, Faculty of History, Lomonosov Moscow State University.
A significant part of the program was the presentation of a special issue of the scientific journal "Russian Language Abroad" - "Russian Studies in India," prepared by the Pushkin Institute together with the Indian Association of Teachers of Russian Language and Literature (INDAPRYAL) with the support of the Russkiy Mir Foundation. "Indian schoolchildren and university students show a great interest in learning Russian and were delighted to have an opportunity to test their knowledge of Russia and practise the language through games. For Russian-language teachers from India, it is especially important to learn from the experience of Russian colleagues, explore modern teaching methods and further develop their professional skills", said Elena Shlotgauer, Senior Expert at the Rossotrudnichestvo Representative Office in New Delhi.
The "Scientists of the Future" project aims to expand the horizons of international academic cooperation and engage young people from foreign countries in the world of science and education.
