Russia Remains Open to Ukraine Talks: Kremlin
Russia remains open to negotiations on Ukraine, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has told Sputnik.
“We are generally open to negotiations. We remain open,” Peskov stated.
Asked whether holding elections in Ukraine would be a condition for Russia to resume negotiations, he noted that “our president has not said anything about this so far”.
US President Donald Trump previously said that Ukraine's Volodymyr Zelensky had many opportunities to settle the conflict but had failed to do so. Ukraine therefore needed a new leader who could reach an agreement with Russia, he said.
Trump also urged Zelensky to hold elections in Ukraine.
