Two Ukrainian Drones in Starobelsk College Terror Attack Operated via Starlink: Russian Official
Two drones that attacked a college in Starobelsk in the Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR) operated using the Starlink satellite communication system, Russian Investigative Committee chief Alexander Bastrykin said in an interview with Sputnik.
On May 22, LPR head Leonid Pasechnik said that a terrorist attack had been carried out by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on an academic building and a dormitory at the Starobelsk Vocational College, part of the Lugansk State Pedagogical University. According to the republic’s authorities, 21 people were killed and more than 40 were wounded.
"The Ukrainian forces used at least seven unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) — specifically the Fire Point-1, Fire Point-2, Sichen, and RZ-100 models — two of which operated via the Starlink satellite communication system," Bastrykin said.
The investigation has determined that those involved in the terrorist attack include Robert Brovdi, the commander of the Ukrainian Unmanned Systems Force, Oleh Ivashchenko, the chief of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, and Andrii Klymenko, the commander of the 414th Separate Unmanned Systems Battalion, known as "Magyar’s Birds." They have been charged in absentia and placed on an international wanted list.
In May, a drone strike on a dormitory in the city of Starobelsk in the Lugansk People's Republic killed at least 12 people and wounded more than 40, with a missile hitting a residential area.
In mid-June, a Ukrainian drone struck a bus carrying a children's football team from Belarus in Russian Bryansk region, killing a woman accompanying the team and injuring eight people, including six children
