The deliveries of Russian diesel under agreements with the United States have begun and will continue in an orderly fashion, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Friday.
Earlier in the day, a tanker with Russian diesel fuel left the port of Primorsk and is heading to New York, according to vessel tracking data seen by Sputnik.
"In my opinion, there have already been reports from the Energy Ministry that the first tanker has actually gone to its addressees, to its customers. And then they will continue in an orderly fashion," Peskov told reporters.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Thursday described US President Donald Trump's decision to let Russian diesel fuel to reach global markets as wise.
"I think the president made a very wise decision, which is to, for some short period of time, allow there to be additional energy flows into the global marketplace," Rubio told India Today.
He also said that the outcome of such measure would benefit not only the United States, but other countries as well.
