UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres welcomes the announcement of agreements on a ceasefire in Aleshki in the Kherson Region, his office said in a statement.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov earlier said that US First Lady Melania Trump had made a significant contribution to coordinating the humanitarian operation in Aleshki.

"The Secretary-General welcomes the announcement by the US First Lady Mrs. Melania Trump of a negotiated ceasefire to begin shortly in the town of Aleshki, and commends the efforts of all who have contributed to that end," Guterres' office said.

It said Guterres hopes this and other steps will help to relieve the dire humanitarian situation in Aleshki.
Aleshki is located on the left bank of the Dnieper River, opposite the city of Kherson, which is controlled by Ukrainian units. A difficult humanitarian situation has emerged in the city due to the actions of the armed forces of Ukraine.
On Friday, Valery Gerasimov, Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, announced that, in connection with a humanitarian operation in the area of Aleshki, the Russian military is ceasing fire in the Kherson sector and implementing a "regime of silence" starting at 04:00 Moscow time (01:00 GMT) on October 27.
Russian ombudswoman Yana Lantratova said the priority during the humanitarian mission will be providing aid to the region's civilians.
