The European Union and the United Kingdom have much to learn from US President Donald Trump in terms of the Ukrainian conflict, Russian special presidential envoy for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries Kirill Dmitriev said on Tuesday.
On Friday, the White House said that the United States had secured a localized ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine in Alyoshki (Oleshky) in the Kherson Region starting October 29.
"Oleshky humanitarian ceasefire coordinated by First Lady Melania Trump begins. President Trump and his team have been pushing for a humanitarian approach and peacemaking to prevail over warmongering. The EU/UK bureaucrats have a lot to learn from this approach," Dmitriev said on X.
Alyoshki is located on the left bank of the Dnieper River, opposite the Ukrainian-held city of Kherson. Ukrainian attacks have created a difficult humanitarian situation in the city.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Melania Trump had made a significant contribution to coordinating a humanitarian operation in Alyoshki. Russian Human Rights Commissioner Yana Lantratova said in mid-October that she was in contact with Melania Trump's team.
