Dozens of tonnes of humanitarian aid collected for Alyoshki (Oleshky) residents are on the way, including food, medicines and fuel for generators, Russian Human Rights Commissioner Yana Lantratova said on Thursday.
"Dozens of tonnes of humanitarian aid for the residents of Alyoshki are on the way. The humanitarian cargo for the residents of Alyoshki was collected by the office of the Commissioner for Human Rights with the support of the PSB Bank. Part of the aid was provided by the Russian Red Cross," Lantratova said on MAX.
The preparation of humanitarian aid was guided by the specific requests of residents, the official explained.
"First of all, people need food — flour, cereals, sugar, canned meat and fish, vegetable oil. Hygiene products and fuel for generators are also needed. A separate application was received from the central district hospital for medicines, including antibiotics and insulin," the ombudswoman said.
A total of several dozen tonnes of humanitarian aid will be delivered to Alyoshki, Lantratova said.
"Thank you to everyone who responded and helped me gather what I needed. It is important that residents receive the support they are waiting for, and doctors can continue to help people," Lantratova added.
