The Indian government has determined 30 critical minerals crucial for the country's economic development and vital to driving its clean energy push.
Federal Minister of Coal and Mines Pralhad Joshi on Wednesday unveiled India's first-ever report on critical minerals.
The 30 minerals listed by the government including, among others, antimony, beryllium, gallium, graphite, and titanium.

"We plan to bring out a policy framework for exploration, processing, use and recycling of critical minerals", Joshi said.

The government said that the identified minerals would play a crucial role in India's ambition for cleaner electronics, telecommunications, transport, and defence technologies.
Earlier this year, the Geological Survey of India claimed to have found 5.9 million metric tons of lithium in Jammu and Kashmir, valued at around $410 billion. Currently, scientific studies are being conducted to determine the quality of the lithium.
Meanwhile, since 2022, the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has signed memorandums of understanding and joint declarations of intent regarding new and renewable energy technology and clean energy with Australia, Finland, the UAE, and Germany.
