IRGC Deputy Chief Names Key American Official Behind War on Iran

The Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States have been sworn enemies for decades, with hostilities beginning after the siege of the American Embassy in Tehran in 1979.

The deputy chief of Iran's elite Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Rear Admiral Ali Fadavi on Wednesday said that the US Secretary of Treasury is the main man behind America's war on Tehran, which Washington has waged against the Gulf state through economic sanctions.
"Contrary to what is believed, the key person in the United States of America responsible for the war with Iran is not the secretary of war (Secretary of Defense), but the secretary of the Treasury, which shows the nature of the current economic war with Iran," Fadavi stated.

How Economic Sanctions Have Impacted Iran?

Since 2018 in particular, Washington has tried to cripple the Shia-majority nation's economy after unilaterally abandoning a nuclear agreement under the presidency of Donald Trump who occupied the White House from 2017-2021.
As part of the economic sanctions, American companies are completely barred from having trade partnerships with Iranian firms.
Besides, the sanctions cover a broad spectrum of the Islamic nation's economy, including sectors like defense, crude, banking, etc.
However, it appears that the American attempts to destroy Iran's economy, especially its vital oil industry have failed, considering Tehran continues to export the green gold to several countries, including China and the UAE.
