On August 15 this year, India marked the 76th Anniversary of the independence gained in 1947 following a long struggle against the British.
To commemorate the 76th anniversary of Independence Day on Tuesday, the Indian Embassy in Moscow organized the 77th Independence Day Celebrations at the embassy premises, where distinguished diplomats and the members of the Indian diaspora in Russia were present.

On this remarkable occasion, New Delhi’s Ambassador to Moscow, Pavan Kapoor, hoisted the Indian flag. After that, he delivered an extensive speech on this remarkable occasion, touching upon India's economic growth, G-20 presidency, and the role of the Indian diaspora worldwide, among other things.
“In its commitment to promoting global development and humanitarian goals, India has taken on leadership roles in international forums, notably the G20. What stands out in India's presidency of the #G20 is the grassroots approach exhibited in its diplomatic efforts," Ambassador Pavan Kapoor said.

The commemoration paid tribute to India's illustrious history, while cultural performances beautifully showcased the vibrant traditions of the nation, fostering friendship and mutual understanding.
On Tuesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin also sent a congratulatory message to Indian President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the occasion of India's Independence Day.
It's worth noting that diplomatic relations between the USSR (now Russia) and India were established on April 13, 1947 -- the same year that India gained independence.
