Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi on Monday said that the United Nations' (UN) decisions should not be influenced by major powers. Raisi pointed out that the global body's decisions should not display any form of bias toward a particular country.
"The decisions of the United Nations should be far from any discrimination and injustice and without being influenced by big powers," he said before leaving for New York, where Raisi is set to attend the UN General Assembly (UNGA) session later this week.
The sovereign Shia majority state's leader asserted that having a presence at the UN was important for Iran, given that it allows Tehran to share its point of view before the entire world.
Besides speaking at the UN headquarters, Raisi will meet with leaders of other countries during his three-day stay in New York.
Among other plans, Raisi is scheduled to hold a gathering with Iranians residing in the United States.
