Passenger Opened Emergency Door Mid-flight, Arrested

A passenger of a Bengaluru-bound Indigo flight in India has been arrested for allegedly trying to open the emergency exit door before the take off, police said on Monday.

According to the police report, Swapnil Holey had taken the flight 6E 6803 from the city of Nagpur in Maharashtra at approximately 10pm on Saturday, September 30th. He had been seated next to the emergency exit door of the aircraft.

''Before the plane took off, as crew members were briefing passengers, the man allegedly tried to open the door,'' NDTV reported.

As soon as the flight landed at the Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru, Holey was escorted to the police by airline staff, a police official said.
He had planned to take another flight to Bangkok on Sunday.
Following the airline staff's complaint, the accused passenger was arrested and a First Information Report (FIR) was registered under Section 336 (act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the Indian Penal Code, the official added.
The man was later released on bail.
