On Wednesday, India's Neeraj Chopra scripted history, becoming the first javelin star from the South Asian country to clinch consecutive gold medals at the Asian Games.
The reigning Olympic and World champion achieved the feat in China's Hangzhou city.
Interestingly, it was a tough day in the office for Chopra, as his India teammate Kishore Jena gave him a tough fight in the final at the Olympic Sports Park Main Stadium in Hangzhou.
However, Chopra eventually emerged on top of the podium with a throw of 88.88m, which, incidentally, was his season's best.
On the other hand, Jena had to be satisfied with a silver medal after he finished second behind Chopra with his personal best throw of 86.77m.
Chopra's victory in the quadrennial event also confirmed his return to the top of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) rankings for javelin, where he will replace his compatriot Jena, who currently sits on the perch.
Moreover, the Haryana-born athlete's yellow metal-grabbing effort made him the first javelin thrower from India to claim the position in consecutive Asian Games.
Chopra won gold in the last edition of Asia's Olympics in Jakarta in 2018.
