India has so far bagged 24 medals - six gold, eight silver and 10 bronze at the Asian Games in Hangzhou city, China, which is due to finish on 8 October. This is India's fourth gold medal in a shooting event.
India continues to strike gold at the Asian Games after the Indian shooting trio Sarabjot Singh, Arjun Singh Cheema, and Shiva Narwal bagged a gold medal in the 10-meter Air Pistol Team competition held at the shooting range at the Fuyang Yinhu Sports Centre.
The trio finished with a combined score of 1,734 points to win gold ahead of China (1,733 points) which bagged silver and Vietnam which claimed bronze with 1,730 points.
Sarabjot got the highest score in his team with 580. Arjun shot 578 and Shiva made 576.
The Indians scored 284 in the first series and then added 287, 291, 294, 290, and 288 in the remaining five.
Indian Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur took to X (formerly Twitter) to praise the athletes and express confidence in India's ability to secure even more medals in the remaining days of the Asian Games.
However, Sarabjot and Arjun Singh Cheema were unable to recreate the same magic in the Individual section as they finished in fourth and eighth spot respectively.
After the final competition, Sarabjot expressed his contentment in securing the gold in the team event, but he expressed his disappointment for missing out on a medal in the individual competition.
"I had my chances but made a couple of mistakes and that cost me a medal," Sarabjot said.
He is now aiming to participate in the Asian championship and hopes to grab a quota place for Paris Olympics.
