A thousand or more Pakistani doctors have signed up to travel to Gaza in the midst of the Israel-Hamas conflict in order to treat thousands of patients.
The chairman of the Al-Khidmat Health Foundation, Dr. Zahid Latif, told local media that among the doctors there are orthopedic, vascular, and general surgeons, anesthetists, pediatric surgeons, specialists in emergency and critical care, gynecologists, and 400 female physicians.
As multiple medical institutions have been destroyed by Israeli bombing, the Gaza Ministry of Health has reported the collapse of the healthcare system. In addition, 18,000 people have been injured - the majority of whom lack access to medical supplies, and many medical professionals, including paramedics and physicians, have also died.
The World Health Organisation's (WHO) office in Islamabad and the WHO EMRO head office in Cairo, Egypt, have been notified about the Pakistani medical professionals who aspire to work in Gaza, according to the chairman of the Al-Khidmat Health Foundation.
