Over 25 countries are interested in BRICS membership, Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolai Patrushev said on Saturday.
Economically, these eleven countries represent about 30 percent of global GDP and 43 percent of global oil production.
Patrushev further emphasised that numerous countries express a desire to become members of BRICS or engage in cooperation with the organisation. He affirmed the organisation's promising future and the significant interest it generates among many nations.
BRIC was officially formed in 2009, and its first summit was held in Yekaterinburg, Russia, on 16 June 2009. A year later, South Africa formally became a member, and the name changed to BRICS. Almost 14 years later, six new members are joining the group, and many more want to be a part of it.
